Spatialization with Yamaha Sound xR Image Controller

Important: Before starting, you must complete the QUICKSTART: Audio Setup Guide first.

Overview

The Yamaha Sound xR Image Controller handles the spatialization for you. Simply send your sounds to the program and control their position via the app’s interface or via OSC (guide coming soon).

Setup

  1. Open the sound program of your choice (e.g., Max, Ableton) which you wish to spatialize. Set your AUDIO OUTPUT device to “Dante Virtual Soundcard” channels 33-56.
  2. The Yamaha Sound xR program should already open (if you completed the QUICKSTART guide). Each output channel from Step 1 corresponds to a sound object in the Yamaha Sound xR program. E.g., Output 33 = Obj 001, Output 34 = Obj 002, etc.
  3. Click on “Offline” at the upper-right corner.
  4. Make sure the settings match the following (Network Interface = en0 but IP can be different):
  1. Click “Online” on the bottom.
  2. Click “Control” on the top toolbar to go back to the controlling interface.
